Brilliant plotting with a lot of glitches, November 14, 2010

    The Excellent:
    - Brilliant plotting by by the iPhone as a sight unit
    - Brilliant sight: speedometer, car voltage, compass.
    - Simple to read while pouring (I mounted it not more than my factory GPS unit)
    - Simple installation of iRadar app
    - Locations of Photo Radar
    - Potential adapter with iPhone potential USB plug in

    The Terrible:
    - Too many flawed alarms, X & K bands
    - Ka alert did not beep in anticipation of cop was in notice, in this area 50 yards
    - Lack of sunvisor clip
    - Black mirror end scratces very basically

    The Hideous:
    - Sight evenly resets to iPhone home screen, between 20 synopsis to an hour
    - Have to reset functions to your weakness after sight resets to iPhone home screen; city/highway mode, turn on/off manifold bands, auto mute etc.
    - Potential cord is too fleeting for a cleaner installation.

I have tested the iRadar for 2 road trips in the last 10 days (LA to San Diego and LA to Las Vegas) and both were practically frustrating experiences. Cobra hits home with the plotting but desires many tweeking on the unit. Did they even have engineers used them for a few weeks before deal them? I would try out back with Cobra after 2 being, and I don’t know most glitches will be gone by then

Save your time and money, buy a privileged end radar detector to save you from speeding tickets. This unit looks cool and that’s in this area it.

Splendid new tech attention for iphone/ipod users at evenhanded fee, October 27, 2010

I reconcile this is the at the start amalgamation of 360 radar detection with visual mapping and controls owing to an iphone/ipad running an app. The relatively low fee plus the visual coordination/control/mapping functions of the app on the iphone/ipod make this an attractive buy for someone who already owns any an iphone or an ipod. Be attentive, though, that some facial appearance are ONLY available on the iphone and NOT the ipod. Specifically, place based alerts used for red-set alight cameras and GPS settings are only available for the iphone. In practical stipulations, this earnings you really should use this contrivance with an iphone.

Why not five stars then? Two reasons: 1) The AURA list used for mapping the stoplight cameras, while claiming updates each 12 hours has been establish to be in certainty far less evenly updated than its main competitor, the Escort Supervisor list and moreover, tends to place previous sites in the list even after they are no longer committed. 2) The real interval/sensitivity for Cobra’s radar detection is not as excellent as the high-end (and far pricier of way) units available from a link of its competitors.

Of way, no one should be a alacrity devil just since “no one is looking” but if you travel with a slightly gray foot and want to reduce your risk of paying pricey tickets, this is a cost-effective way of by leading-edge equipment.

Do NOT buy this detector in anticipation of they update the iPhone app!!!, December 2, 2010

Do a modest research before you buy this radar detector. Don’t buy this for someone for Christmas. They WILL be disappointed unless the promised app update fixes all of the harms.

I have personally had this unit in my car for well over a month. It worked well for in this area the at the start week, maybe two. After that, it was nearly a waste of time. The detector intermittently communicates with the iPhone which disables your visual alerts so that the detector basically becomes a stand-alone radar detector. So, when the detector beeps, it’s a guessing game as to what the detector is detecting, unless you can learn by heart the uncommon beeps. Since here is no users manual built-in with the unit, you have to guess and then dredge up the uncommon types of beeps if you want to know what the detector is alternative up. From my count, here are at nominal amount 8 uncommon types of beeps, doubtless more.

Just look at Cobra’s own website to see the frustrations that customers are having. [...].
Here is by all accounts an app update in the works, but even that is questionable based on Cobra’s statements.

All I am saying is DO NOT buy this detector UNTIL the app update becomes available. Then go try out the Cobra forums over again to see if the update fixed this manufactured goods.

    12/10/2010
    ***UPDATE***
I still cannot urge this manufactured goods. Cobra has come out with two new app updates since I posted my assess and neither update fixed ANYTHING! As a theme of fact, it superfluous a new bug that I won’t go into. Cobra is absolutely dense as to why this prodcut doesn’t work.

All I question is that, if you are looking at export this manufactured goods, go to Cobra’s iRadar community forum website and read the harms we are having.
